TEHRAN - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei endorsed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s presidency at a ceremony held in Tehran on Monday.

It was the tenth presidential confirmation in the history of the Islamic Republic, which was established in 1979.
The Judiciary chief, the Majlis speaker, the Guardian Council secretary, MPs, Assembly of Experts representatives, other Iranian officials, and some foreign ambassadors attended the ceremony.
Ahmadinejad was reelected president in the June 12 election.
The president will take the oath of office for his second term in the Majlis on August 5.
Leader calls election glorious
In the document officially endorsing the second term of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which was read out at the endorsement ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei called the June 12 presidential election glorious.
The participation of 85 percent of eligible voters in the recent presidential election showed the people’s attachment to their achievements over the past 30 years, the Leader said in the document, which was read out at the endorsement ceremony.
“The people’s decisive and unprecedented vote for the elected president is a vote approving the four-year performance of the ninth administration,” part of the document said.
The election was in fact a vote in favor of the campaign against arrogance, brave resistance against international hegemonists, the campaign against poverty and corruption, and the administration’s strenuous efforts, Ayatollah Khamenei wrote in the document.
And “these are the main things that the Iranian nation expects of elected officials,” he added.
Whenever people see that an official is trying to achieve such objectives, they put their hope in him and choose him to take up a responsibility, he wrote.
”I congratulate (everyone) on the election of Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the tenth presidential election, and follow the great nation of Iran, and endorse their vote, and appoint this brave, hardworking, and intelligent man as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran. I wish him and his colleagues success in serving the people… obviously the people’s vote and my endorsement will last as long as he sticks to this path,” he added.
People’s trust is the system’s main asset
In a speech later on Monday, the Leader said the people’s trust in the establishment is the system’s main asset.
“We seriously expect all officials in various sectors to constantly increase this treasured trust,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
He went on to say that officials and the general public should take the experiences of the June 12 election seriously.
The post-election incidents came as a serious warning, demonstrating that “even under the best conditions,” failure to be diligently alert to the enemy’s actions is very dangerous, he said.
The events over the past two months showed that certain persons failed the test, he added.
The Leader also said that some young people who sincerely participated in the election made mistakes in certain cases.
